Foundress Day

On 8 May 2026, we gathered to celebrate Foundress Day and commemorate our Foundress, St. Magdalene of Canossa.  Dedicating her life to God and resolutely giving up her noble life to help the poor, St. Magdalene serves as a role model for us.  To mark this special occasion, the Foundress Day Mass and the Blessing of the Statue of Our Lady were successfully held.  We were honoured to have Father Christopher Chor preside over the Mass and the Blessing Ceremony.

In his homily, Father Chor underscored the importance of loving each other.  As Jesus once said,  “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.”  He emphasised that we should prioritise the needs of others over our own comfort and convenience, loving others unconditionally, just as Jesus loves us.  Father Chor also highlighted our school’s yearly theme, “Cultivating Self-love  Nourishing Wellness.”  He exhorted us to be always mindful of our own spiritual, mental and emotional well-being.  We must treat ourselves with kindness and grace, as we cannot effectively pour love into others if we are running empty.

Following the Mass, Father Chor led the blessing of the Statue of Our Lady.  As he sprinkled holy water and led the congregation in prayer, the beautiful statue of Mother Mary was dedicated to watching over and protecting our school and every member of our community.  To sweeten the celebration, a delightful ice cream treat was distributed to all students.

May the Lord continue to unite all siblings in the Canossian Daughters of Charity in love and instil the radiant spirit of our Foundress in the hearts of all Holy Familians.
