To promote positive education, our school held a private screening of a film “The Lyricist Wannabe” 《填詞L》at a cinema in Mongkok on 11 May 2024. The screenwriter and director of the film was our alumna, Ms Norris Wong, who won the Best New Director at the 39th Hong Kong Film Awards and the Best Original Film Song Award at the 42nd Hong Kong Film Awards. “The Lyricist Wannabe” was also selected as one of the recommended films at the 30th Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards, and was nominated for multiple other awards. The film depicted an experience of pursuing dreams without fear of hardships. After the screening, Ms Wong gave her though-provoking insights to Holy Familians and interacted with them as well as giving great encouragement to them.
On 10 July 2024, Norris was invited again to our school to share with our S1-S5 students with the theme “Perseverance and Creativity”. She shared her secondary school life at HFCC, and how her experiences and stories grew into inspirations and ideas which kicked off her journey of creativity as a lyricist, screenwriter and director. She enlightened the students on how important it was to observe, to reflect and to stay positive whenever encountering any hurdle in life as all of these would eventually become not only the nutrients of inspiration in our creative journey, but also in our growth. She reminded us to stay humble and to appreciate things in life.
Her passionate heart, dedication and determination in pursuing her dream, her proactive attitude in embracing every chance ahead and the perseverance in facing obstacles in her career encouraged and inspired our students.
Her positivity demonstrated our monthly theme “Celebrating Success with a Grateful Heart”.
