At Holy Family Canossian College, our Catholic Formation Programmes are essential for the comprehensive development of our students, fostering their spiritual growth and instilling the values and virtues necessary for a meaningful and fulfilling life. To offer a supportive space for students and staff to deepen their understanding of the Catholic faith, our Catholic Religious Formation Team organized various religious formation programmes. Below are the highlights of our September activities.
- We were honoured to have the Opening Mass officiated by Rev Moses Ngai, the Parish Priest of St. Teresa’s Church, in the School Hall on 12 September 2025. Father Ngai shared the importance of self-love with our students and how the school is like a family for everyone.
- After the Opening Mass, the eight girls who had been to a 10-day Canossian Pilgrimage to Italy in the summer shared their experience and insight with all schoolmates. Their sharing about the visits to important landmarks of Canossian history, including the statue of St. Bakhita, Canossa Palace, and the Church of Saint Magdalene of Canossa, was fascinating for the schoolmates.
- All S6 Catholics joined the S6 Catholic Students’ Formation co-organised by six Canossian colleges in Canossa College on 13 September 2025. They greatly enjoyed the handicraft and game sessions, and found the Mass profoundly enriching.
- The eight girls who have been to the Canossian Pilgrimage in summer attended the Canossian Pilgrimage Spiritual formation Session and Reunion conducted by the Canossian Sisters, in St. Mary’s Canossian College on 13 September 2025.
- In October 2025, our Rosary Prayer Groups were arranged by the Religious Formation Team in the School Chapel during lunchtime on Fridays.
- In November 2025, our Catholic students prayed for the souls of the departed in the School Chapel during lunchtime, focusing on the Holy Souls in Purgatory.
- On 14 November 2025, we were honoured to have a Eucharistic Celebration officiated by Rev. Simon Li, the Parish Priest of Star of the Sea Church, for our S2 and S4 students during the Activity Period in the School Hall. He shared with us the school's yearly theme of self-love, emphasising the practice of self-compassion and treating ourselves with kindness.
- On 15 November 2025, ten Catholic students gathered at St. Patrick's Parish to attend their inaugural Confirmation Class. This session served as the orientation for the crucial religious education programme, designed to deepen their understanding of their faith.
- On 22 November 2025, our Catholic students from S2 to S5, along with their Catholic teachers, embarked on a blessed and joyful journey called “Pilgrims of Hope” to Cheung Chau. They were grateful to visit Our Lady of Fatima Church and were enlightened by Father Fabio during the formation session.

- Our Advent Liturgy on 3 December 2025, which included the lighting of a candle, reminded us to serve as a witness to the light of the world. Let’s remember that Advent is a time of hope and light, and commit ourselves to spiritual renewal.
- On 3 December 2025, our Catholic and non-Catholic students prayed for the victims of the Tai Po Fire Incident during lunchtime. May the departed rest in eternal peace, and may God guide the victims and all those who suffer into the embrace of His light and peace.
- On 12 December 2025, we were honoured to have a Eucharistic Celebration officiated by Rev. John Kwan, the Parish Priest of St. Mary’s Church, for our S1, S3 and S5 students during the Activity Period in the School Hall. He shared with us the school’s yearly theme, “Cultivating Self-love Nourishing Wellness,” emphasising the practice of self-love and the development of our positive attributes and values.
- Guided by God's grace, our Christmas Liturgy and the subsequent students’ performances in the SA programme were held successfully on 19 December 2025. The theme of this year's liturgy focused on being sources of hope for our neighbors. By offering our support to those in distress, we honour Jesus’ presence among us and reaffirm that even in the darkest times, His light remains our source of strength and renewal.
- On 7 February 2026, our S1 Joint-school Catholic Students’ Formation Day was held at Canossa College. It was a grace-filled experience where students were inspired to become ‘Messengers of Hope’. Throughout the programme, they were encouraged to keep their lights burning brightly and guide others towards a path of love, hope, and respect in their daily lives.
- On 11 March 2026, the Religious Formation Team held a Famine Lunch, providing students with a sacred time for personal renewal and a meaningful opportunity to deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ. This solemn experience allowed students to unite in spirit while embracing the three pillars of Lenten spirituality: prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.
- On 26 April 2026, the Catholic Church marked the World Day of Prayer for Vocations. Just as sheep listen for the shepherd’s gentle voice, a vocation is the act of listening to God's call in one’s life. Eleven of our Catholic students, led by Ms Joyce Shih, joined the Canossian Sisters for a prayer gathering on Caine Road. They prayed for one another, asking the Lord to guide their steps and help them embrace the beautiful vocation He has planned for each of them and every one of us.
- We were honoured to have our Foundress Day Celebration officiated by Fr. Christopher Chor, of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, in the School Hall on 8 May 2026. Father Chor encouraged us to learn from the selfless spirit of our Foundress and the Canossian Sisters. He exhorted students to carry themselves with dignity and to serve as witnesses to the truth of Christ. Fr. Chor was then invited to perform the blessing of our Holy Mary Statue. This ceremony took place during May, the month of Mary, a time when we reflect on her role in our spiritual journey. Through this blessing, we consecrate this space to her care, asking for her intercession in our school’s work. We hope that this statue will inspire our community to grow in love and service, following the example of the Blessed Mother.
- On 9 May 2026, our Catholic Students’ Society committee visited the “Messengers of Hope” exhibition at Saint Francis University, held in commemoration of the Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong’s 80th Anniversary. Thanks to the docents’ thorough guidance, we gained a deeper understanding of the Diocese’s foundation and its significant contributions to our community over the decades. Before leaving, we shared our gratitude and well-wishes on the message board. We pray that through the dedication of our priests and the lay faithful, our faith will continue to flourish for generations to come, standing as a living witness to Christ’s truth.
