During the summer holidays, our choir was invited to perform at an annual event hosted by the HSBC Hong Kong Community Partnership Programme on 15 August 2026. Embrace Chorus – HSBC Community Festival focuses on enhancing public awareness and promoting increased compassion for individuals with cognitive impairments (dementia). Its goal is to bring together community initiatives and establish a living environment that is friendly towards those affected by dementia. Around 40 of us volunteered to participate in this meaningful festival. Our choir presented two contrasting songs: “All is Well”, which captures a spirit of hope and future possibilities and “Let It Shine”, which is a cheerful reminder to share our inner light with the elderly.
The event left an unforgettable impression on me. The audience and participants spanned all generations, ranging from young children to senior citizens. Four specific choirs, formed entirely of elderly singers, stood out from the rest and sang with warmth, passion and enthusiasm. Seeing them perform with such energy, completely unhindered by their conditions, was truly inspiring. Watching from the audience, I came to realise how music effortlessly bridges gaps and connects us all on a deeper level. I look forward to participating in other meaningful choral festivals in the future.
