On 1 December 2025, our S4 students participated in a leadership training programme at the HKFYG Jockey Club Sai Kung Outdoor Training Camp. It was a valuable experience that allowed us to take a break from our busy school life, bond with our schoolmates, and focus on our well-being. More than just a day out, it was an unforgettable leadership training experience that broadened our perspectives and enhanced personal growth.
The training camp pushed us beyond our comfort zone and challenged us in ways we didn’t expect. Through a variety of group activities and real-world scenarios, we discovered more about ourselves. One of the most meaningful parts of the camp was working with classmates from different backgrounds. Sharing ideas and solving problems together helped us see things from new angles. We learned that leadership is not just about giving instructions. The reflective discussions and leadership assessments helped us understand our individual leadership styles. We became more aware of our strengths, areas for improvement and the importance of mental wellness. We also began to connect our personal goals to a bigger purpose, which gave us a clearer direction and greater motivation. The camp gave us the chance to develop practical leadership skills and improve essential skills like communication, decision-making and problem-solving. Whether it was working on group tasks or taking on physical challenges, we learned how to think strategically, handle conflicts and collaborate effectively.
We also explored what it means to lead with heart: showing love, care and resilience. We learned how to set long-term goals and create action plans to achieve them. These experiences helped us understand what it means to have a clear vision and how to inspire others to follow it. The physical and mental challenges reminded us of the importance of staying strong and positive, even in difficult times. By embracing challenges, we now see unfamiliar situations as opportunities for growth. Through the activities, we were exposed to different perspectives, which helped us become more open-minded. We also learned to move beyond limited thinking and envision what is truly possible.
Overall, the school outing has changed the way we see ourselves and the world around us. It has helped us become more proactive, confident and visionary. We now understand that the school outing was not just a fun day. It’s about developing a mindset and a set of skills that can be learned by anyone. This experience has prepared us to lead with purpose, adapt to change and make a meaningful impact in the future.
