On 15 April 2025, our school embraced its theme, “Staying Active. Staying Healthy.” Organized through the efforts of social workers, guidance teachers, and student helpers, the day offered a variety of enriching activities designed to help staff members and students slow down, connect, and embrace their well-being. Here’s a heartfelt look back at some of the most memorable moments.
As a student helper stationed at the teahouse booth, I had the privilege of interacting with schoolmates and teachers while preparing tea for them. The act of sharing tea provided an invaluable opportunity for individuals to unwind and escape academic pressures, fostering a sense of serenity and connection. Through casual conversations and shared moments over tea, a sense of belonging and togetherness flourished among Holy Familians. The teahouse booth not only encouraged students to embrace tranquillity but also promoted a healthy work-life balance and a stronger support system within the school community.
One of the highlights of the day was the Rabbit Therapy session, featuring a gentle and soft-furred therapy rabbit. Students and teachers alike were drawn to the bunny, whose calming presence offered a temporary respite from the stress of daily life. Wellness Day also featured the Teacher-Student Basketball Competition. The game was filled with energy and excitement! Teachers showed their playful side, and students cheered on their peers, creating team bonding and a memorable experience for both. Bad Day Café, a themed café, was a hit. Many attendees enjoyed sipping on ‘special coffee’ while engaging in meaningful conversations. The uplifting notes left by participants created a heart-warming collection of positive affirmations. The Stretching Exercises session was a deeply therapeutic experience. Participants learned to focus their minds on the present moment, ease tension through stretching, and practice mindful breathing. This activity left everyone feeling rejuvenated and relaxed.
The Mental Health and Happiness Focus Workshops and mindfulness activities provided actionable takeaways for managing stress and staying happy. Wellness Day was a celebration of joy, peace, praise, and harmony, reminding us all of the importance of prioritising our well-being. From sharing tea and interacting with a therapy bunny to creating art, capturing memories, and practising mindfulness, the day brought us closer together as a community.
